Hotel Avenida, San Clemente

I've spent alot of time in motels in california and this has been my most pleasant stay yet. I was that surprised after staying in so many grubby motels I actually went back down to reception to thank them for their efforts. The entire place was spotlessly clean. The room was very spacious and well equipped. Everything was easy and the manager was accommodating. This is the standard in which everyone else should follow.

Just the tiniest bit outdated, but looks like they just went private and are working on upgrading. Quiet, peaceful and clean. Did I mention quiet? I can hear the ocean from outside my room! Even if you let them know you don’t need full housekeeping, they’ll replace your towels and clean the bathroom at least! Came back after a long day with family to clean towels, a scrubbed tub and toilet and regret for not moving my makeup off the counter for the housekeepers. They didn’t touch a single personal item, they just came in and did what they needed and I didn’t even notice at first. I really appreciated them taking that initiative and seeing that even if I left the room in a rush, I had no clean towel and replacing it. It’s the little things for me, and this place is great. Parking is tight but it’s fifteen minutes walk to the ocean, and this will be my go to spot now.

If you are in search of an affordable place to stay while in this area and your expectations are a bed, bath and being near the ocean this is in a great spot. Checking in, the team behind the glass enclosed check in desk informed us they were under new ownership (note the hotel is branded Rodeway, so be aware if you are looking for a Hotel Avenida sign, I have yet to see it in the third of five nights we have stayed here). The rooms are simple. Nice firm king sized bed. A two person table and chairs. Two end tables. Small microwave on top of small fridge. All of this is in the living space. The bathroom and shower are behind a sliding barn style door. Simple and efficient. No closet to hang clothes. The only two drawers to store clothes are in each of the bed end tables. There is not a secure internet connection. There are four different rodeway wifi spots, available to anyone near the hotel. I would recommend to bring your own WiFi router to give you a secure network while staying here. We did have to chase down some coffee pods and body wash for the shower during our stay. If you are looking for an affordable place to sleep, shower and then enjoy the sights and sounds of this area during your stay, I would recommend this hotel.

Always stay at this hotel went in San Clemente, one of my favorite hidden gems. Close to restaurants, bars, the beach and if you’re an elk member, there’s an Elks right down the street! They just replaced all their beds and boy did my husband and I sleep well

Fantastic stay and warm wonderful service! They were very accommodating to my elderly parents, made sure they always had the right room and were friendly and helpful all around. Excellent location, right on El Camino with fast access to the beach, Del Mar and the Outlets, as well as a couple of local bars and restaurants within walking distance. Can highly recommended as best value for money in San Clemente

When my family and I visit the beautiful San Clemente, we always stay at Hotel Avenida. The staff are very kind, and always aim for a lovely stay. Which we always do have a lovely experience. :) The room attendants are always quick to assist. The rooms are beautifully decorated. Plenty of restaurants to enjoy good food. I recommend this beautiful hotel and only minutes away from San Clemente Beach. Thank you! Sabrina

I have stayed at this location hundreds of times over many years. The managers are exceptional. It is not a 5-star hotel but the staff works to make it a 5-star experience. I spend 150-200 nights per year on the road and this is one of my favorite places to stay.

I only gave the rooms three stars because they’re a little dated But they were clean, quiet and an unbelievable deal for the money, Where I live in Fort Lauderdale? That hotel would’ve been $350 a night, especially with the proximity to the ocean. Front desk gentleman was very nice. It was late night If you have a large vehicle parking is a little tight, but I definitely will use this hotel again exceptional value for the money
